Samples of steel are taken to determined the amount of nitrogen and ultra-low carbon in the steel. Pills are punched from the samples.Mild steel was punched immediately after sandblasting (light color), hard steel after sandblasting were heated for the punching (blue color). Ultra -low cardon was not sanded but milled ( thicker, glossy). Nitrogen is now determined by the spectrometer.
