A circle that is too large or a square that is too small
2022
A too large circle of strip steel has been put in a square of the same kind of strip steel. But it can also be seen the other way around, then a square that is too small is stretched around a circle. Because the circle is too large or the square too small, both the square and the circle are distorted.
Themes of Nico Kok such as material properties, how is it made, what can be done with it, the geometric shapes circle and square, etc. are reflected in this work.
Square hanging on its diagonals
2022
A square of round steel of 3mm is hanging from a nail on its diagonals (black cord of 3mm). If the diagonals were not resilient then this would not be possible there would be an unstable situation because the nail (the pivot point) is in the middle of the square. Due to the resilience of the cord, the square has dropped and the nail is now at the top of the square and a stable situation is created. The diagonals are bent and a pyramid is created in perspective.
